NCSBN Considers Pertinent Association Business With Its Member Boards of Nursing at Its 2013 Annual Meeting


CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Aug 29, 2013) - The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN®), www.ncsbn.org, met in Providence, R.I., Aug. 14-16, 2013, to consider pertinent association business with its member boards of nursing. There were 57 member boards represented by delegates.

NCSBN Board of Directors President Myra A. Broadway, JD, MS, RN, executive director, Maine State Board of Nursing, stated, "This year was a grand celebration of NCSBN's 35th anniversary and we had the chance to honor the first Board of Directors (BOD) President, the late Elaine Ellibee, with a special luncheon attended by her family. Attendees also had the chance to network with eight former BOD presidents."

Highlights of some of the significant actions approved by the member boards of nursing include:

  • Adoption of the 2014-2016 Strategic Initiatives;
  • Adoption of the 2014 NCLEX-PN® Test Plan;
  • Adoption of the revised membership agreement and setting the membership fee to zero;
  • Adoption of the revisions to the NCSBN Bylaws; and
  • Approval of the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland & Labrador, College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba, Saskatchewan Association of Licensed Practical Nurses, and the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland as associate members of NCSBN.

NCSBN will meet Aug. 13-15, 2014, in Chicago for the 2014 Annual Meeting and Delegate Assembly.
