NDP Launches 'Leadership and Fairness' Campaign

Positive TV ads focus on issues that matter

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 14, 2007) - Canada's NDP is setting the agenda with a series of positive TV ads based on the themes of 'leadership and fairness'. Featuring NDP Leader Jack Layton, the ads speak directly to the issues that matter to the middle class and working families - the prosperity gap, environment and health care.

"Theses ads reflect what ordinary Canadians across the country are telling us, Jack is the leader who is strong, experienced and tough enough in taking on Harper," said Eric Hebert Daly, NDP Federal Secretary.

The ads will run nationally on English networks starting today.

"With these ads we're setting out the clear differences with the Conservatives - the prosperity gap, their foot dragging on the environment, and their failure to address the health care needs of middle class and working families," said Mr. Hebert-Daly.

"The Harper government just doesn't get it. People want action on the prosperity gap - on items like unfair ATM fees. But the Conservatives just won't move when it comes to the banks or big oil."
