NDP: More Facts on McGuinty's Tuition Relief

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 4, 2007) - The Canadian Federation of Students in their report "McGuinty's Faulty Framework: Real Picture of Ontario's Tuition Fee Framework" note:

"If tuition fees increase by the maximum each year, students entering their first year of a college or university professional programme or graduate programme in 2009-2010 (four years from now) could very well face tuition fees that are 36 per cent higher than they are today. In fact, if tuition fees rise in accordance with the vision set out by the McGuinty government, by 2009-2010, one year of medical school at the University of Toronto will cost nearly $20,000-$3,400 more than in 2005-2006 and a quadrupling in fees since 1998."

No wonder students are saying: "Any party that's going to advocate moving in that direction should be seriously considered and congratulated and I'm looking forward to hearing the other parties hopefully move down similar lines." (Jesse Greener, CFS, Canadian Press, September 4, 2007)
