NDR2014 to Be Held in Baku

SOCAR to Host 2014 National Data Repository Conference

HOUSTON, TX and BAKU, AZERBAIJAN--(Marketwired - Sep 3, 2013) - Energistics, the upstream oil and gas standards consortium, announced today that The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) will host the National Data Repository Conference (NDR2014) in Baku, the scientific, cultural and industrial center of Azerbaijan, from 29 September - 3 October 2014.

NDR meetings, established in 1996, have now been held 11 times and attract over 150 delegates from government regulatory agencies, energy companies, oilfield service companies, and software vendors to take part in dedicated workshops, country reports and local cultural events. Recent NDR meetings have been held in Cape Town, New Delhi, Rio de Janeiro and Kuala Lumpur.

The overall goal of the meetings is to promote best practices through collaboration between governments and the oil and gas industry to more efficiently exchange and manage data generated during exploration, drilling and production operations in the oilfield.

Jerry Hubbard, President & CEO of Energistics and the NDR Executive Sponsor, said, "We are excited to gather in Baku, one of the birthplaces of the oil industry. SOCAR has been most gracious in taking on this significant hosting endeavour and this underscores the significance that countries place on these meetings."

Most recently, NDR11 was hosted by PETRONAS in Kuala Lumpur where 180 delegates from 31 countries gathered for three intensive days of work, addressing issues from previous meetings, bringing each other up to date with what is happening in their countries and, specifically, identifying areas where collaboration will benefit the industry.

Tirza van Daalen of TNO and Chair of the NDR2014 Steering Committee, said, "We eagerly anticipate a productive, successful and well attended event in Baku." She added, "Our hope for NDR2014 is to expand on the opportunities to collaborate."

SOCAR is involved in exploring oil and gas fields, producing, processing, and transporting oil, gas, and gas condensate, marketing petroleum and petrochemical products in domestic and international markets, and supplying natural gas to industry and the public in Azerbaijan. Three production divisions, two oil refineries and one gas processing plant, an oil tanker fleet, a deep water platform fabrication yard, two trusts, one institution, and 22 subdivisions are operating as corporate entities under SOCAR.
