Nearly 1,400 Teleperformance U.S.A. Employees Register as Bone Marrow Donors

Teleperformance Partners With Delete Blood Cancer DKMS Organization to Help Save Lives

SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwired - December 21, 2015) - Teleperformance, the global leader in outsourced multichannel customer experience management, has partnered with Delete Blood Cancer DKMS organization to offer donor registration opportunities to employees interested in joining the national bone marrow donation registry. In a national campaign across all Teleperformance sites earlier this fall, more than 1,390 Teleperformance employees provided cheek swabs and health information in order to make themselves available as potential donors for patients in-need. 

Approximately every three minutes in the U.S., someone is diagnosed with blood cancer and a bone marrow transplant is often the best chance for survival for many patients. According to Delete Blood Cancer DKMS, although around 30 percent of patients can find a donor match within their families, 70 percent of patients (around 14,000 people each year), rely on selfless strangers donating their bone marrow.

If a Teleperformance employee should match with a patient from the national database, the employee will be asked to donate marrow or blood stems cells in a basic outpatient procedure that differs from donating blood. Because of the challenges involved in finding just the right match, it is important to have a large registrant pool. Many of the patients who benefit from these transplants are children.
