NeighborWorks(R) America Helps Families Hurt by Midwest Flooding

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - July 1, 2008) - Hundreds of families affected by the flooding in the upper-Midwest will benefit from a rapid-response by NeighborWorks® America and The Home Depot Foundation to provide training, tips and advice that will help hundreds of families recover from the damage caused by recent flooding.

A $25,000 grant from The Home Depot Foundation will pay for hundreds of families to receive the information that they need to clean up their homes safely and remediate the potentially harmful health effects from mold and other sources carried and created by the devastating flood waters.

"Although the waters are receding, there is still a lot of work to be done for families who want to rebuild their homes," said John Santner, NeighborWorks® North Central district director. "The training classes we're holding today will equip families with the information that they need to take a first step to getting their homes back in the shape that they belong."

The NeighborWorks® North Central District includes: Iowa, Kansas, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.

In addition to trainers from NeighborWorks® America, the homeowner information session will be staffed by an expert from the National Center for Healthy Homes.
