Neil Young Leads the Canadian Contingent With Three Nominations for the 49th Annual GRAMMY'R' Awards 2007

Gordie Sampson Follows With Two Nominations, Along With One Nomination Each for Nelly Furtado, Diana Krall, Sarah Mclachlan, The Duhks, Daniel Powter, Walter Ostanek And Michael Buble Gnarls Barkley, The Dixie Chicks, John Mayer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Justin Timberlake Battle for Album of the Year Don Henley to be Honoured as the 2007 MusiCares Person of the Year

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 7, 2006) - Leading the Canadian nominations for the 49th Annual GRAMMY® Awards, announced today at The Music Box @ Fonda in Hollywood, is Neil Young with a total of three nominations ("Lookin' For A Leader" - Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance and Best Rock Song; "Living with War" - Best Rock Album). Gordie Sampson receives two nominations for "Jesus Take the Wheel" (Song of the Year and Best Country Song). After winning a GRAMMY® Award in 2002 and an American Music Award this year, Nelly Furtado is nominated for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for "Promiscuous" with Timbaland. Female Canadian artists Diana Krall ("From This Moment" - Best Jazz Vocal Album) and Sarah McLachlan ("Wintersong" - Best Traditional Pop Album) also have one nomination each. Canada's own country group The Duhks, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, are nominated for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for "Heaven's My Home". The Drowsy Chaperon soundtrack, which evolved from a Toronto Fringe Festival performance, has been nominated for Best Musical Show Album. Also with one nomination each are: Walter Ostanek (& Fred Ziwich) ("Good Friends Good Music" - Best Polka Album) Daniel Powter ("Bad Day" -Best Male Pop Vocal Performance)and Michael Buble ("Caught in the Act" - Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album), See attached for list of Canadian Nominees.

Topping the 49th Annual GRAMMY® nominations are Mary J. Blige with eight, while the Red Hot Chili Peppers garner six, James Blunt, the Dixie Chicks, John Mayer, Danger Mouse, Prince, Rick Rubin, will.i.am and John Williams each earn five nods. Beyonce, Bryan-Michael Cox, Gnarls Barkley, Israel Houghton, T.I., and Justin Timberlake receive four each. See www.grammy.com for all nominations in 108 categories.

The 49th Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live, from the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, on the GLOBAL TELEVISION NETWORK, Sunday, February 11, 2007 at 8:00pm ET/PT, with a special pre- GRAMMY® program hosted by ET Canada. The GRAMMY® Awards reaches a worldwide audience of hundreds of millions in 75 countries.

Eligibility period for the 49th Annual GRAMMY® Awards nominations was for recordings released in general distribution from October 1, 2005 to September 30, 2006. The official GRAMMY® Nominees compilations CD will be released by SonyBMG in Canada on January 30, 2007.

Also, on February 9, 2007 in Los Angeles, multi- GRAMMY® award-winning Don Henley will be honoured as the MusiCares 2007 Person of the Year at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
