Neil Young Wins 2011 Grammy Award for "Best Rock Song" for "Angry World" off His Grammy-Nominated Album "Le Noise"

BURBANK, CA--(Marketwire - February 14, 2011) - Legendary rocker Neil Young won a 2011 Grammy Award last night for "Best Rock Song" for "Angry World," off his Grammy-nominated current album "Le Noise," which was released by Reprise Records on September 28th, 2010.

The eight-song "Le Noise," which is Young's most critically acclaimed album in years, is a collaboration between the acclaimed rock icon and musician, songwriter, and multiple Grammy Award-winning producer Daniel Lanois, known for his work with U2, Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, Brian Eno, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, The Neville Brothers and many others.

"'Le Noise is the most intimate and natural-sounding album Young has made in a long time... But the most personal thing about 'Le Noise' is the sense of a restless master caught in the pursuit of ideas. 'Le Noise' is, ultimately, an extreme simplicity: the sound of a man who won't give up." -- Rolling Stone

"All the tunes here reach for the kind of primal, indelible riffs Mr. Young brought to songs like 'Cinnamon Girl' or 'Cortez The Killer.' The music roars and reflects, seethes and mourns." -- The New York Times

"Liberated from the sounds from a full band. It's a fitting prelude to an album that shows Young as never before." -- Wall Street Journal

Young, who began his solo career on Reprise Records in 1968, has since been honored by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) many times throughout his five-decade career. In February 2010, he won his first Grammy Award for "Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package" for Archives Volume 1 (1963-1972). He was also honored as the 2010 MusiCares Person of the Year for his decades of philanthropic service, including his work with Farm Aid and the Bridge School concerts, which raise money to provide services for kids with severe speech and physical impairments.
