Nelson Books Signs Robin McGraw

Debut Book to Be Released in 2006

NASHVILLE, TN -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 3, 2005 -- Nelson Books, a division of Thomas Nelson Publishers (NYSE: TNM), announced the signing of Robin McGraw, wife of bestselling author and television talk show host, Dr. Phil McGraw. Set to release in 2006, the book is yet untitled but is expected to target the female demographic -- the core of Dr. Phil's worldwide audience, an audience with whom Robin has formed a meaningful relationship over the last few years.

Jonathan Merkh, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Nelson Books, said, "We are thrilled and honored to partner with Robin McGraw. We see this as a huge coup for Nelson and look forward to what we certainly anticipate to be a New York Times bestseller."

"There is an overwhelming viewer response when Robin appears with Dr. Phil on the show," said Merkh. "Robin's unique relationship with the audience will be an important tool in launching her new book. Viewers continue to embrace Robin's contributions to the show -- whether it be discussing her experiences as a mother, wife or dealing with issues that women face in the many phases of their lives."

The Dr. Phil Show, to which Robin has become an important contributor, has been making headlines and breaking records since its September 2002 launch, when it garnered the highest ratings of any new syndicated show since the launch of The Oprah Winfrey Show 16 years prior. Currently entering its fourth season in national syndication, the Dr. Phil Show continues to rank as the #2 daytime talk show -- and consistently ranks among the top ten of all syndicated television programs. The show is seen in 99.9% of the United States as well as 40 territories and countries around the world.

Thomas Nelson Publishers is no stranger to blockbuster successes with a recent string of eleven New York Times bestsellers. This success in the general market is an intentional strategy developed by the executive team led by Michael S. Hyatt, President and Chief Operating Officer. "We see the general market as one of our largest opportunities for growth. We have been very deliberate in our support of that sales channel as well as delivering titles appropriate to that market," Hyatt said.

Robin McGraw has been one of the most sought after new authors within the publishing world in many, many years -- and her signing by Thomas Nelson comes on the heels of Thomas Nelson's fiscal 2005 earnings announcement dubbed "the best year ever" by Michael Hyatt. "With our record number of mainstream bestsellers sure to rise, our continued dominance in the CBA market secured and the vast potential for Robin McGraw's book, I am already cautiously forecasting fiscal 2006 as the next 'best year ever'," said Hyatt.
