Neopost Employees Vote Diabetes UK as Their 'Charity of the Year'

ROMFORD, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - April 20, 2011) - Neopost Limited, Europe's leading supplier of mailroom solutions, including franking machines and letter folding and inserting equipment, vote every year for the charity they wish to support. This year their chosen charity is 'Diabetes UK':

• Diabetes UK is the largest charity organisation in the UK committed to the treatment and care of people with diabetes; providing practical support and information, campaigning, supplying safety net services and helping people to live with and manage the condition.

• It's one of the largest funders in the UK of research into better treatments for diabetes, contributing over £6million per year, as well as one of the largest patient organisations in Europe, supporting the interests of people with diabetes by campaigning for better standards of care and ultimately to search for a cure for the condition.

• The charity has a support network of offices located throughout the UK, as well as running various events, road shows, conferences and courses. Diabetes UK Careline staff each answer over 100 enquiries a day and Diabetes UK produce a variety of magazines, books and leaflets covering all aspects of diabetes.

Chris Burns, HR Director at Neopost said: "For Neopost to decide on who is nominated as our charity of the year we have to consider a number of things. Is it relevant to employees? Is it a national charity or local to our Head Office in Romford? And so on. Diabetes UK ticks all the boxes for us. We will be working closely with the charity to enhance awareness of Diabetes amongst our employees and the importance of a healthy lifestyle in preventing the onset of Diabetes".

Neopost have offices all over the country and each one is also involved with raising money for Diabetes UK. To kick start the fund raising year, Neopost has made an initial donation of £2,000. Fund raising events have included Dress Down days, a Christmas raffle, company wide Diabetes Awareness sessions, promoting the use of self assessment diabetes packs and a Mad March Hair day organised by Diabetes UK, raising funds of £3641.31 so far. Additional events being planned include a new regular diabetic – friendly lunch in the company canteen and a visit from The Book People, where 10% of all book profits will be donated to Diabetes UK.

Elizabeth Rowe, the London Regional Fundraising Manager at Diabetes UK, delivered Diabetes Awareness Sessions in Romford and said 'Staff at Neopost are doing a brilliant job fundraising and Diabetes UK is delighted to be working with a company so dedicated to the health and well being of its staff. At the start of the year, we organised an awareness day and staff were risk assessed for diabetes. Diabetes is a serious condition and Neopost is helping us raise awareness of the condition and helping raise vital funds for research into the condition.'
