SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 29, 2013) - Net Optics, Inc., a leading provider of total application and network visibility solutions, today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Ixia (NASDAQ: XXIA) for $190 million in cash.
The acquisition would expand Ixia's technology portfolio of network visibility products to include Net Optics' signature line of network and virtualization taps and its range of Application-Aware Network Performance Monitoring (AA-NPM) solutions and network packet brokers.
The closing is subject to customary closing conditions and approvals, and is expected to close during the fourth quarter of 2013.
Eldad Matityahu, Net Optics' Founder and Chairman of the Board, stated, "We are so excited to be acquired by Ixia because Ixia shares our strong commitment to 'Customers First!' values and fosters an innovative culture similar to ours. The combined strengths of our companies will provide customers the strongest and broadest set of network visibility solutions to anticipate evolving network demands."

Ever-increasing threats to and demands on physical, virtual and converged networks require a platform that provides seamless, end-to-end visibility. Net Optics has innovated a range of network visibility solutions, such as Best of Interop Finalist Spyke™, Phantom Virtualization Taps™ (the first to bridge physical and virtual environments) and Flex Tap™ (the first to break the 100G barrier). With the acquisition of Net Optics, Ixia will solidify its position as a leader in the network visibility market.
"Providing our global customers with innovations and technologies that enable them to win in their markets has been the key to our success over the past 17 years," says Bob Shaw, President and CEO, Net Optics. "Together with Ixia, we will now release the next set of industry first innovations, providing customer value and ensuring the best total application and network visibility solutions."
Since launching in 1996 and introducing the network tap to the market, Net Optics has maintained a leading position in network visibility, co-founding the Network Packet Broker (NPB) space and expanding into Application Aware Network Performance Monitoring (AA-NPM). Net Optics recently introduced the first NPB solution to integrate Software Defined Networking (SDN).
