Net Optics Debuts Landmark Virtualization, Cloud Solutions at Interop 2011

Interop Selects Net Optics Phantom Virtual Tap, Director Family, Indigo Pro, and HD Tap as Part of InteropNet Integrated Access and Monitoring Platform

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - May 2, 2011) - Net Optics, Inc®., the leading provider of intelligent access and monitoring solutions, today announced that an unprecedented wide range of its solutions will provide mission-critical network access and monitoring for the InteropNet -- the dedicated Interop network -- as part of an integrated access monitoring platform. Interop is relying on Net Optics' new Phantom Virtual Tap™, Director™ family of solutions, HD Tap™ and Indigo Pro™ platform as fundamental components of the InteropNet platform -- the thirteenth straight year that Net Optics solutions have played this key role.

Interop is the world's largest and most comprehensive independent IT event, and the InteropNet is a major feature, deployed only during the event itself. Interop builds the InteropNet in collaboration with the industry's most innovative vendors and volunteers, who work together to create a totally interoperable network built on forefront technology.

"For 25 years, Interop has brought together the industry's standout vendors to build a showcase network that fosters interoperability and quickens the adoption of emerging technologies," said Lenny Heymann, Interop General Manager. "Over the past two years, visibility into the Cloud has been a central issue within the InteropNet -- and with solutions from Net Optics, we're finally able to address this issue."

The InteropNet is a paradigm advance, reflecting the highest levels of design, deployment and multi-vendor management of a converged network. As an Interop cornerstone, the Network Operations Center (NOC) applies Best Practice methodologies and provides a viable reference model of networks that meet current and future business needs.

"Net Optics equipment gives us the ability to look into our IPv4 and IPv6 network traffic, particularly when we have network issues, and allows us to troubleshoot and rectify any problems," said Glenn Evans, Chief Engineer of InteropNet. "Building a network from scratch, which employs dozens of vendors providing different equipment, requires total network visibility -- as a key player in our integrated access and monitoring system, Net Optics provides complete access and visibility into the data running through the network."

Net Optics Director solutions were chosen based on their universal ability to connect any Gigabit or 10 Gigabit network feed to any monitoring tool, aggregate multiple feeds down to a single pair, relieve oversubscribed tools through filtering, reduce the overall footprint of the InteropNet's monitoring access architecture, and provide remote visibility and control. The reliability and stability of Director appliances allow for continual capture of critical traffic flow information for presentation to the management platform. Director appliances also provide a complete end-to-end solution that enables both edge and core network monitoring.

InteropNet selected the Indigo Pro management platform based on its ability to provide simple, effective management and monitoring of large numbers of devices through a single console. The solution provides element management, dashboard, and rich graphics capabilities as well as collection and visualization of traffic statistics emitted from Net Optics devices throughout the network. Indigo Pro works hand-in-hand with other network management systems to expand overall network intelligence while significantly improving IT operational efficiency.

The Phantom Virtual Tap is a breakthrough in network traffic monitoring for virtualized and cloud computing environments, delivering unrivaled total visibility into InteropNet traffic and the ability to tap traffic between virtual servers on a physical server. Inclusion of the Phantom Virtual Tap marks the first time InteropNet has featured a suite of Net Optics solutions integrating physical and virtual networks.

"Being selected to sponsor InteropNet for the thirteenth straight year is a testament to the value of Net Optics solutions to some of the world's best network architects," said Bob Shaw, president and CEO of Net Optics. "It is especially gratifying to see the use of Net Optics appliances expand beyond last year's scope, and reinforces the importance of the complete, transparent network access that our solutions provide."

In addition to sponsoring the InteropNet, Net Optics will exhibit its new appTap™ solution for distributed offices, along with the Phantom Virtual Tap itself, and the entire family of Indigo and Director solutions.
