Net Optics Director xStream Pro Chosen by Cisco to Display New MACsec Security Capabilities at Cisco Live

Director xStream Pro Is the First and Only Network Monitoring Solution to Provide Visibility Into MACsec LAN Encryption Solution in Cisco Switches

SANTA CLARA, CA and LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - Jul 11, 2011) - Net Optics, Inc., the leading provider of intelligent access and monitoring architecture solutions delivering real-time IT visibility, monitoring and control, today announced that Net Optics Director xStream Pro™ will be the first and only network visibility solution showcased by Cisco within its demo network at Cisco Live Las Vegas.

Cisco selected Director xStream Pro for its ability to display captured traffic from its demo network and underscore the contrast between traffic with and without Cisco's new MACsec security protocol. The demo highlights the capabilities of MACsec security encryption, which is designed for device communication across the Borderless Network. Director xStream Pro's display shows, at the packet level, the various traffic types that are visible when MACsec encryption is disabled -- compared to the total encryption and masking of traffic types with MACsec enabled.

"We chose their Director xStream Pro and HD8 Fiber Taps because we felt they would offer us the support needed to show the value of our newest MACsec technology," said a Cisco Technical Marketing Engineer. "This is your LAN with MACsec -- and without it."

"It's incredibly exciting to be included in the MACsec demonstration, because Net Optics is the first network monitoring vendor to have been selected by Cisco," said Dennis Carpio, VP of Strategic Partnerships at Net Optics. "We'll be the only vendor in the space showcasing this type of technology."

In addition to having its Director xStream Pro and HD8 Fiber Taps™ on exhibit at the Cisco booth, Net Optics will feature and demo all of its newest technological offerings for network access and management at its own booth, #1841, in the World of Solutions Expo. Net Optics' booth will also host two informational speaker sessions with VP of Technology, Sharon Besser, on Tuesday, July 12 at 2:00 p.m. and Wednesday, July 13 at 3:30 p.m.

Besser will discuss the various tools and methods that allow Cisco customers to maximize the performance of their Cisco infrastructure. Besser will delve into a variety of solutions, including MACsec, leveraging spam poles and monitoring folds, using taps efficiently, and how to monitor virtual infrastructures within the Cisco UCS.

"There are tools available which allow users to improve their existing Cisco infrastructure, especially when it comes to monitoring, compliance, and security," said Besser. "In some cases it is possible to leverage some of the built in capabilities within the Cisco switches and routers to get more when it comes to monitoring the entire environment overall."

Besser's sessions are available to any and all Cisco Live attendees, and do not require prior registration. Each talk will last 20 minutes, followed by a 10-minute question-and-answer session. Interested parties unable to attend Cisco Live, or unable to attend either session, are encouraged to submit questions via Twitter. Questions should be directed to @netoptics, and submissions should include the hashtag #CL11.
