Net Optics Pioneers Migration to 40G and Streamlines SDN Integration With New Solutions Announced at RSA Conference

Net Optics 40G Intelligent iBypass™ Switch and xStream™ 5.0 Platform Provide Integrated Solutions for High-Speed Networks Requiring 100 Percent Uptime and Pave Way to Secure, Cost-Effective 40G Upgrade

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - Feb 25, 2013) - Net Optics, Inc., the leading provider of Total Application and Network Visibility solutions, announce the rollout of two advanced new solutions at RSA Conference. Together, these add up to significant customer benefits in simplified tool management and security integration, enhanced MPLS deployments, and seamless SDN integration.

The Net Optics 40G bypass Switch is the first high-density low latency solution on the market to offer forefront high performance 40G bypass capabilities that can be used to bridge the gap for 10G migration. The 40G iBypass provides seamless failover during link, application, or power loss events with zero packet loss, by using a feature such as microsecond heartbeats to provide real time protection. The 40G iBypass switch comes with advanced management capabilities utilizing a secure Web UI, secure shell (SSH), SNMP, and SNMP traps for monitoring events.

"The only way to ensure optimum performance and uptime between critical links is to use the 40G iBypass for 100% failsafe assurance," said Eldad Matityahu, Net Optics' Founder and Chairman.

Each 40G iBypass takes up only one half of a standard 19" rack, enabling the deployment of up to two 40G iBypass' in a 1U slot. This makes 40G more economically feasible, while protecting the value of customer 10G investments and helping maintain security in migrating networks. The intelligent 40G iBypass switch is designed for 40G networks and 40G tools such as IPSs, DDOS prevention tools, next-generation firewalls, and DPIs.

The solution uses network Tapping along with Net Optics' ProPush™ statistics technology that automatically sends network updates to security and performance tools in near real-time. The granular information helps the IT team identify and respond proactively to mission critical issues before they can affect network integrity, availability and performance. The need for this keen vigilance is even more crucial in networks migrating to 40G.

The 40G iBypass Switch will be available for purchase in Q2.

The xStream 5.0 platform enhances Net Optics' current Network Packet Broker solution by boosting user agility and accuracy to provide enhanced visualization capabilities--plus adding the ability to create more powerful filters and ACL rules.

"We've fortified the xStream 5.0 with a wide spectrum of high-value features that break new ground in network protection and cost-savings for our customers allowing them to improve the overall security of their networks by providing additional and better integration with existing tools as well as improve network management," said Sharon Besser, Net Optics VP of Technology.

New Features include:

  • Policy and network visualization tool - allows users to drag and draw to define and create filters; provides Visio-like diagrams that analyze each filter's activity and enables merging and import/export of policies to and from other devices
  • MPLS Label Filtering - powerful engine that simplifies filtering MPLS labels in the data stream so that users can simply identify specific tags and direct that tagged traffic to relevant tools
  • Network Configuration Protocol (NETCONF) - supports configuration by external tools and integration into SDN architectures; enables packet forwarding to be determined by third party controller devices rather than predefined policy
  • Port Rate Limiting - a critical performance safeguard that prevents overburdening of IPSs/IDSs, DLPs, firewalls and other tools by limiting data volumes
  • Port Modes - powerful methods to leverage the xStream Platform ports with for improved performance and additional tool integration capabilities
  • Network Streams Copy - improved and simplified policy generation options
