NetApp Wins 2009 WRAP Award From California Integrated Waste Management Board

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - December 10, 2009) - The California Integrated Waste Management Board recently honored NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) with a 2009 WRAP award as part of the Waste Reduction Awards Program (WRAP). The award recognizes NetApp's corporate waste and recycling program and achievements in minimizing environmental impact through the conscientious use of products, activities, and services. This is the third year in a row that NetApp received a WRAP award.

NetApp won the award primarily for successfully reducing its impact on the local environment in 2008 by diverting more than 2.3 million pounds of materials from the landfill. NetApp's robust building construction over the past year also included recycling more than 1.8 million pounds of construction debris -- nearly half of all of NetApp's recycled materials in 2008. These efforts not only reduced the amount of material going to a landfill, but also saved the company the fees to dispose of those materials.

"NetApp is honored to receive a 2009 WRAP award," said Laura Pickering, vice president, Office of the CEO, and environmental responsibility advocate at NetApp. "Environmental responsibility is inherent to our DNA and is a key initiative for our employees around the world. We appreciate being recognized by the California Waste Management Board for a third straight year and look forward to improving our results in the coming year."

NetApp's corporate waste-management program is ISO 14001 certified and eliminates waste from landfills through reducing consumption, reuse, and recycling. As a high-tech company, NetApp focuses on e-waste, successfully diverting more than 98% annually. In all, NetApp diverts more than 50% of all waste from landfills by using recycled, biodegradable, and/or compostable supplies throughout our offices and facilities. NetApp also has a foam-densification process to reduce the large volume of packaging foams.

WRAP provides an opportunity for California businesses and nonprofit organizations to gain public recognition for their outstanding waste-reduction efforts. WRAP also provides businesses with examples of successful waste-reduction techniques, which they may adopt as their own. All businesses and private nonprofit organizations with California facilities are eligible for the annual WRAP awards, which are judged by the California Integrated Waste Management Board.
