NetCologne Chooses Cedar Point for Enhanced Business Services

Delivers SIP-Based VoIP Services Over DSL, Fiber (FTTB) and Cable Networks for Business Services Customers

DERRY, NH--(Marketwire - April 20, 2009) - Cedar Point Communications Inc., a worldwide leader in integrated Voice over IP (VoIP) switching technologies for service providers, today announced that it has joined forces with regional telecommunications operator NetCologne, to offer enhanced business services to subscribers in their cable, fiber (FTTB) and DSL footprint. They will be using SIP, a key enabling technology for next-generation IMS networks, to provide VoIP to business and residential subscribers. NetCologne has deployed Cedar Point's SAFARI C3 Multimedia Switching System for voice services to approximately 500,000 total subscribers throughout the Cologne region.

Prior to installing Cedar Point's SAFARI C3 Multimedia Switching System for the business services layer, NetCologne had deployed the SAFARI C3 Multimedia Switching System in their CATV and XDSL/fiber networks. NetCologne will introduce new business services to support IP-PBX integration/connectivity, and IP-Centrx for the small/medium business customer segment.

"After the successful introduction of SAFARI C3 Multimedia Switching System for our broadband cable and fiber/XDSL customer segment, it was the logical step for us to base our new business services onto the SAFARI platform," said Karl-Heinz Zankel, Managing Director of NetCologne.

"Cedar Point simplifies the operational complexity of delivering VoIP based services and accelerates the deployment of new services with simple integration and reduced ongoing operations cost. We have expanded our installed base into the XDSL and service provider market in Europe," said Michael Brunsveld, Managing Director for Cedar Point Europe Communications GmbH. "Our new business feature capabilities for IP-trunking, IP-Centrex/virtual-PBX and IP-PBX connectivity enable network operators of any size to offer enhanced business services and realize substantial savings for initial equipment, engineering, installation and integration costs."

Cedar Point has shipped more than four million SAFARI C3 lines to customers in the Americas, the Caribbean and Europe. SAFARI C3 supports up to 250,000 lines of capacity in less than a cubic yard of space, incorporating all of the components that make up the voice switching infrastructure. It is being deployed for residential and business services by a diverse customer base that includes Cable System Operators, CLECs, Wireless Operators and Universities.
