Partnership Yields Robust Solution for Leveraging Enterprise Data

Netezza Corporation today announced that through its partnership with Business Objects, the company is enabling a powerful Business Intelligence (BI) foundation for the retail market. The combination of the Netezza Performance Server® (NPS®) system and the Business Objects suite of Business Intelligence software provides a compelling solution for retail organizations seeking to fully leverage their enterprise data.

The flexibility and usability of the Business Objects BI suite complements the performance and value of Netezza's market-leading data warehouse appliance to provide retailers with rapid access to a high-performance BI solution. The combined solution allows organizations to analyze more detailed transactional data to make better business decisions relating to customer buying patterns, campaign management, product assortment, and supply chain management. This provides today's retailers, who are overwhelmed with growing volumes of data and increasing demands from both internal and external customers, with a key competitive advantage.

"We realize that retail organizations have very specific needs when it comes to Business Intelligence," said Andy Winans, vice president of Retail & CPG, Netezza Corp. "They require real-time information about store and product performance, the ability to measure and increase campaign effectiveness and profitability, and ways to evaluate and manage vendor performance. Our partnership with Business Objects allows Netezza to deliver a solution that addresses all of these issues while reducing demands on corporate IT infrastructures and providing the lowest total cost of ownership."

The partnership alleviates the complexity and cost of high-performance data analysis by utilizing an appliance-based model as the foundation over traditional, more costly architectures. As a result, retail organizations can leverage the solution's rapid performance to conduct meaningful ad-hoc data analysis at typically half the cost of other solutions on the market.

"The retail industry moves fast and changes every day, and having a powerful business intelligence solution has become mission-critical," said Jon Dorrington, vice president of alliances at Business Objects. "Combining our market-leading business intelligence software with the Netezza Performance Server system provides retailers with a compelling solution for analyzing the vast amounts of data collected on a daily basis. The combined solution helps joint customers to use business intelligence as a strategic advantage and optimize performance."
