Netronome Introduces Open Appliance to Increase Performance and Accelerate Development of Network and Security Applications

Open Appliance™ Application Programming Interface and Acceleration Platform Are Optimized for Intel® Architecture, Enabling Existing Network and Security Applications to Achieve Line-Rate Performance

PITTSBURGH, PA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 2, 2007 --Netronome Systems, the industry's leading provider of high-performance Open Appliance™ systems, today announced two new products that further extend their family of application acceleration, flow processing and deep packet inspection solutions.

As networking requirements continue to evolve, application performance and appliance scalability have become critical to helping IT organizations increase network bandwidth, deploy new applications, manage security threats and reduce operational costs. The Netronome Flow Manager™ (NFM) and the Open Appliance Platform enable application acceleration, deep packet inspection and flow analysis in a highly scalable manner -- addressing the needs of both developers and users of network appliances, particularly those who take advantage of the performance and scalability of the Intel architecture because they need to significantly increase application performance and gain greater control over network traffic.

Simplified Acceleration for Network and Security Applications

The Netronome Flow Manager provides an open application programming interface for network and security appliances that require acceleration. The NFM allows appliance manufacturers to quickly improve the performance of existing products, accelerate the development of their next-generation applications and reduce overall development costs. The NFM programming interface allows network and security appliance vendors to focus development on their software applications while simultaneously benefiting from hardware acceleration that significantly increases performance. With the use of the NFM, network appliance vendors can increase their application performance and I/O throughput without requiring modification to existing applications or complicated programming of underlying acceleration hardware.

A Turnkey Acceleration Solution for Application Vendors

The Open Appliance Platform is a full-function network appliance that provides all of the benefits of the Netronome solution in a single appliance for independent software vendors (ISVs). The Open Appliance Platform integrates the Netronome Flow Manager along with the Netronome Flow Engine (NFE) multi-port Gigabit Ethernet hardware accelerator. The combination of the NFM and NFE in a single appliance enables ISVs to quickly provide their products with application acceleration, increased network performance, granular flow processing and deep packet inspection.
