Netsmart Puts Value-Based Payment Models in Spotlight at 2016 National Council for Behavioral Health Conference

Discussions Focus on Evolving Care Models Including Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC)

OVERLAND PARK, KS--(Marketwired - March 07, 2016) -  As one of behavioral healthcare's premier conferences, the 2016 National Council for Behavioral Health Conference, gets underway in Las Vegas, Nev., Netsmart is focused on "Connecting the Mind, Body and Communities." The leading technology solutions provider for health and human services will help attendees understand the complexities of Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC) and other value-based payment models in an evolving healthcare ecosystem and demonstrate the recently-announced integration of speech recognition technology into its electronic health records (EHR). In addition, Netsmart will offer resources to clinicians that are unique among technology providers in the health and human services community -- the guidance of a Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. Dennis Morrison, and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Ian Chuang, to help them leverage healthcare IT to maximize efficiencies and improve outcomes.

"We've long said that our relationship with clients runs deeper than a software transaction. Never has that been more true or more important than today," said Netsmart CEO Mike Valentine. "The hallmarks of a pay for performance healthcare ecosystem -- integration, interoperability and coordinated care -- require deep, collaborative relationships. That's how we help our clients positively impact the lives of millions."

That approach will be on display as Netsmart hosts an opening day breakfast with special presentations on evolving care models including Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC). CCBHCs, as outlined by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA), are centers that are required to meet criteria across topic areas including coordination of services, accreditation, and quality improvement and reporting. Discussions led by Netsmart clients will focus on implementation of CCBHCs and other value-based models intended to facilitate care coordination and multi-system interoperability.

Collaborative Learning

New this year at NatCon16, the Bright Ideas Theater will host innovators and problem solvers in a short, talk show-style format. Netsmart Executive Vice President Kevin Scalia will field questions on evolving care models, CCBHC planning and care coordination.

Executives from The Guidance Center and Southeast Kansas Mental Health Center, both Netsmart clients, will lead a NatCon16 poster session -- an hour-long engagement with conference attendees -- about improving outcomes with coordinated care and behavioral health homes.

In addition, knowledge leaders from more than two dozen Netsmart client organizations from across the country will host educational sessions on key healthcare issues such as:

  • Analytics -- "Measure or Be Measure: Creating and Implementing Outcomes Measurement Processes"
  • Whole-Person Care -- "Integration Role Reversal: How to Add a Primary Care Clinic to a Mental Health Center"
  • Mental Health -- "Addressing the Unique Needs of Youth in Crisis – Emerging Models"
  • Leadership -- "Things I Wish I Knew Before I was a CEO"

The conference will take on a celebratory tone as National Council announces its 2016 Awards of Excellence winners including Netsmart clients like Gosnold on Cape Cod President and CEO, Raymond V. Tamasi, who will be presented with the Visionary Leadership Award.

"It's our clients that ultimately impact the care delivery process," said Valentine. "It's with great satisfaction that we see them honored for improving outcomes and increasing efficiencies."

Live updates from the conference will be provided on Twitter via @netsmarttech, #NATCON16 and #NTST.
