Network Box Replaces Its M-Series Flagship UTM Device for Medium-Sized Organizations With a New, Higher-Performance Model

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - November 9, 2010) -  Network Box USA, Inc. (www.networkboxusa.com), the American arm of managed security company Network Box Corp., has announced the availability of Model M-385, which replaces the successful M-380 -- the flagship model of its popular M-Series family of unified threat management (UTM) appliances for medium-sized organizations.

Boasting three times the performance of the M-380, the new M-385 is equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor running at 3 gigahertz with a 6-megabyte cache, 2 gigabytes of RAM, 4 gigabytes of industrial flash memory, and a 320-gigabyte SATA hard drive for logs and database storage. It comes standard with 1x 10/100 TX and 6x 10/100/1000 TX Ethernet ports and can be expanded with either a 4x 10/100/1000 TX or a 4x Gigabit Ethernet SFP module -- offering a total of 11 independent Ethernet ports to cope with the most demanding of network requirements; this gives mid-sized companies the ability to connect fiber directly to their firewall through its optional SFP module.

Like all Network Box UTM appliances, the M-385 integrates numerous applications -- firewall, intrusion prevention and detection, virtual private network, content filtering, anti-virus, anti-spam, anti-phishing, and anti-spyware -- into a single, sophisticated hybrid of hardware and software, enabling an enterprise to combat hackers, worms, backdoors, and other online menaces, easily and cost-effectively. Updates are performed in real time using Network Box's PUSH technology; whenever a new anti-virus signature, security patch or software update is available, it is pushed out to every Network Box device around the world, usually in fewer than 45 seconds.

Complete support is provided for Network Box advanced services -- such as load balancing, quality of service, and advanced policy-based routing -- and the units are fully monitored from the Network Box Global Management System. In addition, they can be integrated with existing clusters and networks of Network Box UTM appliances.

Network Box USA customers need not be concerned about the cost of the M-385, as the appliance is now simply lent to them for the duration of their contract, and they pay only for the service. "This makes the overall Network Box offer very appealing," said Pierluigi Stella, CTO of Network Box USA. "Not only do customers not have to purchase the hardware, they don't have to worry about upgrading it, if and when it becomes obsolete, or about amortizing it over time."
