Network Equipment Technologies to Exhibit at AFCEA C4IST Conference

FREMONT, CA--(Marketwire - October 6, 2010) - NET Federal, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. ("NET") (NASDAQ: NWK), announced today that it will exhibit at the 28th Annual AFCEA C4IST Conference, sponsored by the Southern Arizona Chapter of AFCEA. The conference will be held on October 4 - 7, 2010 at Fort Huachuca, Arizona on base at the Barnes Field House. NET Federal will demonstrate its JITC certified VX Series voice exchange with integrated Session Border Controller (SBC) and its NX1000 multi-service platform, which is interoperable with the Promina platform. Both the VX Series and the NX1000 are critical communication devices in the Army's tactical communication systems arsenal.

NET's VX Series voice exchange with integrated Session Border Controller (SBC) is JITC certified as a Tactical Network Element (T-NE), assuring the strict security and reliability that the DoD requires in its voice systems. The VX Series' capabilities allow it to interwork with either legacy PBXs or next generation IP-based voice platforms. Optimized for Government use, the VX Series voice exchange provides advanced MLPP, SBC, and security features that are in line with the new AS-SIP UCR definition. In addition, the VX Series offers a robust implementation of V.150 Universal Modem Relay that communicates between the newly deployed secure IP phones, such as the Sectéra vIPer™ from General Dynamics, and secure analog communications devices. This means users of the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) version of the Sectéra vIPer™ can communicate with hundreds of thousands of existing secure analog products.

Proven by use in Department of Defense and NATO deployments, the VX Series has been selected by Government entities looking to achieve the advantages of next-generation voice systems, while continuing to utilize existing voice assets, all while assuring adherence to standards for security and reliability.

NET's NX Series products are high-performance networking platforms that provide high-grade data transfer between storage area networks (SANs) and WANs and enable secure grid computing. The NX1000 provides a flexible, cost-effective Internet Protocol (IP) aggregation solution that facilitates migration of legacy traffic to IP. It is fully interoperable with NET's existing Promina product line, delivering an all-new architecture and built-in capability to converge legacy applications onto an IP-based network while also providing four times the bandwidth of similarly sized Promina models. The NX1000 adds multi-service aggregation capabilities to the NX Series' product line-up and is housed in a field-deployable, compact and lightweight chassis. It fits well into tactical and first-responder applications as well as supporting applications for high speed serial or legacy migration to IP, IP-based satellite transport, and tactical to fixed-site connectivity. The NX1000 also offers higher speed data interfaces, diskless data storage, and an optional rubidium atomic clock module to provide a high level of accuracy and synchronization for bit synchronous applications over IP.

Fort Huachuca is home of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center and the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM)/9th Army Signal Command. It is also the headquarters of Army Military Affiliate Radio System (MARS) and the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) and the Electronic Proving Ground (EPG).
