Network Equipment Technologies' UX2000 Is Validated in Independent Research Report

FREMONT, CA--(Marketwire - December 6, 2010) - Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. ("NET") (NASDAQ: NWK) announced today that its UX2000 Survivable Branch Appliance was validated by Miercom for performance as a redundant survivable gateway under the Performance Verified program. Miercom is an independent third party network product testing facility.

The testing showed that NET's UX2000 is capable of providing branch site resiliency and reliability by delivering high availability and interoperability. The analysis also determined that the UX2000 is easily integrated with Microsoft Lync 2010 for high availability at branch sites, and affords efficient bandwidth usage with its multiple media transcoding feature. Further, survivability and high availability at branch sites using the NET appliance during outages proved to be reliable without any loss of service while maintaining toll-quality voice.

"We were pleased at the performance of the NET UX2000 in our recent hands-on lab testing and evaluation. Attention to security in the voice network has been significantly bolstered by NET's UX2000," said Rob Smithers, CEO of Miercom. "NET is effectively addressing security concerns of enterprises, and the UX2000 not only withstood all attacks at Layer 2 and 3 but maintained its SRTP/TLS security and encryption with toll-quality voice to Microsoft Lync Clients registered to it."

"NET's progress in delivering our enterprise customers' security and protection against intruders further strengthens the position of our converged enterprise communications solutions," said Kevin Isacks, CTO of NET. "Our commitment to open standards for delivery of flexible and secure solutions remains a key strategy for our enterprise solutions, and we are honored to receive this validation from Miercom."
