Network Utility Force Completes Installation of IPv6 Enabled Municipal WiFi Network

An Outdoor Deployment for the City of Douglasville, GA

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - June 03, 2013) - Network Utility Force, an Atlanta-based network engineering and professional services company, announced today it has completed the deployment of an outdoor, IPv6 enabled, municipal WiFi network for the City of Douglasville, Georgia.

"We are honored to be part of this large-scale, and geographically diverse wireless project, one which will serve as a model for modern municipalities," stated Brandon Ross, Co-founder, CEO and Chief Network Architect of Network Utility Force. "To create a scalable and reliable architecture, we deployed industry leading WiFi access points from Aerohive, as well as wireless backhaul and aggregation equipment from best-in-class manufacturers. Additionally, we implemented sophisticated network engineering practices for robust and extended wireless coverage to meet present and future demands, resulting in a deployment that is one of the first public WiFi networks with native support for the latest revision of the Internet Protocol, IPv6."

Brice Layton, Vice President of Sales - Eastern US for Aerohive, commented, "We are thrilled about this municipal project and providing our WiFi technology to the city of Douglasville. Our controller-less architecture, with mesh capabilities, together with our management software and high-powered, weather-resistant outdoor access points are a natural fit for a disparate, public network with high-speed bandwidth and dense user requirements."

The municipal WiFi network covers about 60 acres collectively, including downtown Douglasville, making it one of the largest public WiFi networks in Georgia. Jeff Noles, Executive Director for the City of Douglasville Development Authority, stated, "It will be a significant asset for the citizens and visitors of Douglasville, helping to attract new business, and enhancing the experience of our festivals, parades, concerts, sports, and other events throughout the year."

Network access is free, and the deployment was paid for by Google as part of its community outreach program. For additional information regarding the Douglasville WiFi network, please view the following television interview: http://is.gd/LMDDaY.
