Names Mitsubishi Veteran Koichi Narasaki Chief Operating Officer; Furthers Commitment to OpenStack

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 9, 2015) - Midokura, the global innovator in software network virtualization, today announced strong continued company momentum, driven by worldwide adoption of its award-winning Midokura Enterprise MidoNet (MEM) and its open source MidoNet technology that is currently in use in more than 120 countries. The company also named Mitsubishi, Access Co., Ltd. and IP Infusion veteran Koichi Narasaki as chief operating officer (COO).

At Midokura, Mr. Narasaki will be responsible for overall global operations, including business development, sales and marketing. Prior to joining Midokura, Koichi served as CSO and COO of Access Co., where he led several corporate development initiatives and oversaw the acquisition of two Silicon Valley tech companies, Palmsource and IP Infusion. He expanded the OEM business at Palmsource by $150M through licensing its patented smartphone technology to tech leaders, including Apple, Samsung and Microsoft. Once IP Infusion became a wholly owned, independently operated subsidiary of Access Co., Koichi was named CEO of IP Infusion.

Prior to Access Co., Mr. Narasaki spent 20 years at Mitsubishi as general manager where he drove global business developments in the wireless and networking technologies sector. Mr. Narasaki has held several other senior vice president roles at other leading software companies as well.

"The move to open source our MidoNet network virtualization technology last year has been a game-changer for us, as demonstrated by the resounding affirmation from a global community of engineering talent that only continues to grow," said Dan Mihai Dumitriu, CEO of Midokura. "The community's endorsement of MidoNet is providing us with an immense technological edge. The result is new customers, new partners and new accomplishments that show the value of betting on open source projects like OpenStack and Docker. We are proud to announce Mitsubishi veteran Koichi Narasaki as Midokura's new chief operating officer, and look forward to continuing our work in the year ahead."

Industry Accolades

Midokura's MEM technology offers an intelligent, software-based network abstraction layer between the hosts and the physical network, by decoupling the IaaS cloud from the network hardware. In turn, operators can build isolated networks in software to overlay the existing hardware-based network infrastructure. Midokura's open source version of its core MidoNet technology is quickly gaining in popularity among organizations of all sizes in more than 120 countries.
