PLAINVIEW, NY--(Marketwire - Aug 24, 2011) - NeuLion, Inc. (TSX: NLN), the true end-to-end technology service provider for delivering live and on-demand content to any Internet-enabled device, and Major League Soccer (MLS), the top-flight professional soccer league in the United States and Canada, today announced the launch of MLS MatchDay Live on Panasonic Viera Connect TVs and Roku devices across North America.
Building upon the tremendous success of MLS MatchDay Live, the dedicated MLS video service available via PC and iPad, the same interactive digital viewing experience is now available in a fully functional and integrated experience on two new connected devices. Subscribers will be able to watch over 200 games live, as well as view on demand video such as previously broadcasted MLS games and highlights.
"As a sports league and business it's important to remain cutting-edge when it comes to technology. Working with NeuLion and adding viewing access to these new connected devices, complements the MatchDay Live offering on the PC and iPad. Our fans are eager to engage in this 'big screen' experience on Roku devices and Panasonic Viera Connect TVs. Allowing fans the ability to choose their preferred viewing device is expected to drive more subscriptions," said Chris Schlosser, director of digital strategy for MLS.
The service provides unprecedented HD access to live and condensed matches, highlights, schedules, standings, league leaders and stats for each player in a seamless, easy-to-use interface. Fans will be able to easily navigate between live and on-demand matches, which are viewable on a large HD 'playing surface' on their TVs.
"Bringing MLS content to Roku and Panasonic Viera Connect TVs furthers the trend of multi-screen viewing," said Marc Sokol, executive vice president of NeuLion. "NeuLion's platform is able to connect viewers on all Internet-enabled devices and the company's architecture is fully integrated, allowing seamless delivery of content. As the marketplace expands, more and more devices will be introduced and it's important to be able to scale to this demand."
MLS MatchDay Live is available to fans as a subscription-based service in HD quality via PC, iPad, Roku box, Roku 2 box and Panasonic Viera TV. Visit www.mlssoccer.com/roku or access through the Panasonic Viera Connect main menu.
