NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Oct 13, 2011) - NeuLion, Inc. (TSX: NLN), the true end-to-end technology service provider for delivering live and on-demand content to any Internet-enabled device, today announced a new partnership with The Whistle to provide a dedicated online video experience with sports content designed specifically for kids. The Whistle joins NeuLion's robust portfolio of clients, including the NHL, the NBA, and the NFL and numerous NCAA colleges and universities including Oregon, Duke and LSU.
The Whistle, the first cross-platform content provider focused exclusively on developing sports programming tailored to kids, was developed with the goal of building the next generation of sports fans by combining interactive technology with a successful TV programming approach. It will develop original programming for its website, TheWhistle.com, with the option of making it available to television audiences. The website will also feature a variety of instructional and entertaining sports content, including live and VOD video, games, quizzes and blogs.
"We are pleased to partner with NeuLion for our technology needs as they are able to support our unique digital content creation strategy that requires a high quality of service and a complex infrastructure, allowing our users to have a unique interactive viewing experience," said John West, founder and chairman of The Whistle.
NeuLion is working with The Whistle to integrate its technology into The Whistle's website to create an innovative destination for kids. Embedded video players will be seamlessly integrated into a 'locker room-themed' design on each of the site's five main pages and will provide a better overall user experience than traditional stand-alone video.
Production has begun on a variety of programming, including sports news and highlights, health and fitness series, dramas and more.
"We are excited to partner with The Whistle as it demonstrates the true capabilities of our platform, which is flexible enough to provide content on multiple devices no matter who the target audience is," said Marc Sokol, an executive vice president of NeuLion. "This website is special for NeuLion, because this is the first time we are developing a service geared towards kids and working with an organization that is creating content for the web first, before any other means of media."
