PLAINVIEW, NY--(Marketwired - September 11, 2016) - NeuLion, Inc. (TSX: NLN), a leading technology product and service provider specializing in the broadcasting, distribution and monetization of live and on-demand digital video content to Internet-enabled devices, today announced that its broadcast-proven MainConcept® HEVC Encoding SDK will use GPU acceleration features provided by NVIDIA® Quadro® graphics.
MainConcept licenses codec technologies to the professional broadcast and OTT market. Software vendors use MainConcept's easy-to-integrate SDK technology to build video transcoders, live encoders, editing applications, streaming servers, cloud services and more.
The MainConcept HEVC/H.265 SDK is leading the OTT market for high-quality video experiences, by powering best-of-class products and services of globally recognized brands, such as Adobe, Brightcove, Wowza and others.
By utilizing the computing power of NVIDIA Quadro for processing intensive tasks, like live video broadcasting in Ultra High Definition, the MainConcept HEVC Encoding SDK lets broadcasters add support for high resolution video using less expensive hardware. And, because 4K video frames can be processed using parallel tasks on GPU and on host computer, video processing latency is reduced, delivering a more efficient and better quality viewing experience for 4K video.
"The MainConcept® HEVC Encoding SDK achieves 4K60p live encoding in pure software mode, and leveraging GPU acceleration with the NVIDIA Video Codec SDK will provide additional value by offloading parts of the processing to the GPU, and give our broadcasters better encoding quality and more CPU cycles for their own applications," said NeuLion's VP of Engineering Thorsten Schumann.
"MainConcept has utilized NVIDIA GPUs to accelerate its professional video library for many years," said Sandeep Gupte, senior director of professional solutions at NVIDIA. "Adopting our next-generation Quadro GPUs will help fully optimize performance of their MainConcept HEVC Codec."
The MainConcept HEVC Encoding SDK with GPU acceleration will be available early 2017. Contact us to request an evaluation license.
