New Acquisitions for Empire to Enhance Profits in 2008
BEVERLY HILLS, CA--(Marketwire - March 17, 2008) - Empire Home Entertainment, the
distribution division of Empire Film Group, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: EFGU)
("Empire Film") (http://www.empirefilmgroup.com), has completed the
acquisition of seven new titles for release to the USA DVD and Blu Ray
markets in the coming months. These new acquisitions, when added to the
recent multi-title library ventures and newly announced theatrical
releases, bring the total of feature film and video titles in the Empire
library to more than 200.
"We're pursuing parallel paths in our film acquisition strategy for
Empire," said Eric Parkinson, CEO of Empire Home Entertainment, the
distribution division of Empire Film Group, Inc. "While the locomotive
releases for Empire are likely to be major theatrical titles such as
'Hounddog,' we want to enhance our video and television schedules with a
good supply of quality films and videos that have had only limited or no
theatrical exposure. These titles have great commercial value, especially
on DVD, and will generate significant revenues for Empire and our program
suppliers."
"No Retreat From Destiny: The battle that rescued Washington" is an award
winning, dramatic feature that tells the story of the Confederacy's last
great invasion of the north, in July 1864, and the subsequent attack on
Washington, D.C. that almost brought the northern war effort to its knees.
The film was produced and directed by Kevin Hershberger for Historical
Entertainment, LLC.
"Laugh At L.A." is a new, made-for-DVD stand-up program shot at the
infamous L.A. Comedy Connection. The program was produced by Blaine
McManus and directed by Xavier Mitchell, and features well known and rising
black comedians including Deborah Wilson Skelton, Jill Michelle Melean,
Rodney Mason, Charlie Talbert and hosted by Todd Bridges.
"Victoria" is a Spanish-language comedy, shot in Puerto Rico from director
Coraly Santaliz, starring Luisa de los Rios in the title role as a
love-struck attorney, with Latin-rap star Vico C as a demanding, new
client.
"Living Proof" is the acclaimed new "anti-aging" fitness DVD from trainer
Karel Nunnink, that covers exercise and lifestyle routines to improve one's
health, fitness, appearance and lifespan. The DVD release will be
supported by Empire with national television advertising and in-store
appearances and demonstrations by Nunnink.
"Moon of the Desperados" is a documentary on the history of rodeo
competition, from early inception to today's multi-billion dollar industry,
from filmmakers Jeth Weinrich, Jordy Thompson and former bull-riding
champion turned film actor and director, Barry Tubb. "Soultaker" is the
Vivian Schilling sci-fi classic that won the Saturn Award in 1991 as "Best
Picture on Video." Empire will remaster the film for DVD and Blu Ray
release this fall. "The Eliminator" is a 1990 science-fiction
action-adventure starring David Carradine and Frank Zagarino that will be
remastered by Empire for release on DVD, with deleted scenes and other
bonus materials.
