New Affordable Housing for Seniors in Regina


REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwired - Dec. 18, 2015) - The Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan, and the City of Regina, along with community partners, today announced the official opening of a two-storey apartment building for seniors including 16 affordable and 10 market units. The 26-unit facility, called the Sun Lodge or the "pîsimokamik", was developed by Silver Sage Holdings Ltd. (Silver Sage).

The Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, on behalf of the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), along with the Honourable Donna Harpauer, Minister of Social Services and Minister Responsible for the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, made the announcement today.

  • The federal and provincial governments, through Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and Saskatchewan Housing Corporation (SHC), jointly contributed $2 million under the Canada-Saskatchewan Investment in Affordable Housing Agreement to support the construction of 16 one-bedroom affordable housing units.

  • The Silver Sage funded 10 two-bedroom units. They contributed more than $6 million in mortgage financing and cash and land equity to the entire 26-unit project.

  • The City of Regina provided a $390,000 capital grant to the project.

  • The Sun Lodge is an independent-living facility located at 3951 3rd Avenue North in Regina.
