New Android App Reduces Eyestrain and Headaches

A New Android App Reduces Glare and Increase Comfort and Productivity When Working on Smartphones and Tablets

LONG BEACH, CA--(Marketwired - September 01, 2015) - Irlen® introduces a new Colored Overlay App for Android phones and tablets designed to increase efficiency and comfort when using these devices. As the originator and world leader in using color to reduce strain and fatigue when reading or working on computer or other screen devices, it was only a matter of time before Irlen® brought its evidence-based technology to the digital screen. Irlen® Colored Overlays for Android can increase comfort, fluency and accuracy when reading, and allow individuals to read and work on devices for longer periods of time without strain or fatigue.

This App brings proprietary Irlen® technology directly to Android smartphones and tablets, where individuals need it most. It allows users to select from 10 preset Irlen® Overlay colors, or create a custom color, and then apply this color to the screen of the device. The chosen color will overlay the screen no matter what other application is being used, reducing eyestrain and discomfort whenever using the device. The Colored Overlay App is easy to use and provides the same benefits as Irlen® Colored Overlays traditionally used for books and paper.

Sandra Tosta, the director of research operations at the Irlen Institute says, "In today's society, people spend hours staring at screens for work, school and pleasure. Lots of people don't like looking at these screens because of the glare, brightness or lack of clarity. This tool can make screen time a lot more comfortable and productive."

More than 15% of the population struggles with discomfort and/or distortions when trying to read and work on electronic devices. By reducing glare and contrast on the printed page, Irlen® Colored Overlays can improve print clarity and stability, reduce strain and fatigue, eliminate headaches, improve comprehension, make reading faster, and allow individuals to read longer and with comfort. Irlen® color technology is backed by over 30 years of research and is used by millions of children and adults around the world. The Irlen® Colored Overlays App is available now on Google Play.
