New Assisted Living Complex Opens for Seniors in MacGregor and Surrounding Region

MACGREGOR, MANITOBA--(Marketwired - Sept. 16, 2016) - A new, 16-unit assisted living housing complex officially opened its doors to seniors who wish to stay close to their families, community and other supports in MacGregor. The Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, and Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, and the Honourable Eileen Clarke, Minister of Manitoba Indigenous and Municipal Relations,, made the announcement today.

• The $5.3 million project, Victoria Place, received $960,000 under the federal-provincial Investment in Affordable Housing agreement.
• This two-storey, 19,000 square-foot complex, is located at 66 Victoria Street and will serve low-to-moderate income seniors from MacGregor and surrounding communities.
• The building includes 12 one-bedroom units and four two-bedroom units, and it is fully accessible for residents with mobility issues.
• Up to four units have rents geared to income.
• Nor-Mac Community Assisted Living (NMCALI) will manage the property. This group was incorporated in 2010 to build the first assisted living project in the community.
