New Atlanta BeltLine Campaign Gives Advocates a Chance to Own a Piece of History

Grassroots Funding Initiative Offers Supporters the Opportunity to Purchase Pieces of Original BeltLine Rail

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - Aug 22, 2014) - The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership, with the support of Nebo, an Atlanta-based digital marketing agency, has launched an innovative fundraising campaign that gives supporters of the Atlanta BeltLine a way to own a piece of its history while also helping build its future.

Atlanta BeltLine enthusiasts can now visit BuildtheBeltLine.org to purchase handcrafted, limited edition slices of the original rail that once lined the Atlanta BeltLine. Each piece is cut by hand and stamped by local Atlanta sculptor Jason Smith. Only 1,000 of these limited edition pieces of art will be made available. The remaining rail will be preserved for use in future Atlanta BeltLine art projects. Each piece will be sold for $99, and the proceeds from every purchase will help fund Atlanta BeltLine programs and projects.

"The Atlanta BeltLine simply would not happen without consistent community support," said Charlie Shufeldt, Chairman of the Board of the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership. "Our fervent fans now have a limited chance to obtain a piece of the legacy they're helping to build."

The Atlanta BeltLine has built some of the most beloved public parks in the city, with 200 acres of greenspace and seven miles of paved trails. The project has spurred more than $1 billion in new private development, and it is estimated that the Eastside Trail will welcome more than 1 million users this year. The new Westside Trail and the extension of the Eastside Trail will break ground this fall.
