New Braunfels, Texas Selects Accela Solution to Improve Service to Citizens

Web-Based Application Supports City's Goal to Modernize Software and Increase Internal Efficiencies

NEW BRAUNFELS, TX--(Marketwire - March 20, 2008) - New Braunfels, Texas has selected Accela Automation® from Accela, Inc. to streamline its internal land and asset management processes and improve the quality of service it provides. Staff in the city's Building, Code Enforcement, Permitting, and Public Works departments will utilize the more user-friendly, easily accessible system to conduct business via the Internet and make online services available to citizens and the development community.

The selection of Accela Automation resulted from the city's search for a solution that could modernize its administrative services software to increase efficiencies involved with permitting, inspections, and asset management, and to support its commitment to provide the best in service to its citizens and visitors.

"We welcome the opportunity to support New Braunfels as a new Accela client and applaud their commitment to delivering high standards of customer service through the best technology available," said Maury Blackman, Accela's president and CEO. "The City's foresight in choosing to implement an agency-wide solution will have measurable benefits immediately and long into the future."

Additional Accela applications were selected to enhance the functionality of Accela Automation. They will facilitate sharing of GIS information from a centralized database, enable field staff to work more efficiently in conducting inspections, and provide residents with the ability to apply for and obtain permits online:

It allows creation of multiple map layers, automated map analysis, parcel and asset inventory management, direct editing of GIS data or files, and auto-distribution of information to mailing lists. It is built on the ArcIMS™ platform by ESRI®.

Accela Wireless™ is a mobile government software application that allows government staff to perform their jobs from the field for inspections, code enforcement, work orders, and service requests. Optimized for Intel Centrino® Mobile Technology, Accela Wireless is compatible with PDAs, laptops, and Tablet PCs running on the Microsoft Pocket PC 2003, Windows Mobile 5, Windows 2000, or Windows XP operating systems.
