The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has launched the second phase of the Come Make Your Mark national marketing campaign aimed at addressing labour shortages in the NWT at this time focusing on university, college and trade-school students.

Come Make Your Mark is a comprehensive national marketing campaign aimed at convincing residents of select regional jurisdictions across Canada to move to the NWT to live and work long-term. The campaign was first rolled out in northern and central Ontario in April.

"The Northwest Territories offers limitless opportunities for young people," says the Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment Bob McLeod. "Our future is bright. But we face a critical labour shortage in the next decade. This next phase of the campaign will raise awareness of those opportunities among post-secondary students across Canada of the johnopportunities our territory has to offer."

The campaign will run from October 6 until March 2, 2010 in over 60 universities, colleges and trade schools across Canada. One of the innovative aspects of this phase of the campaign is the introduction of "Mark" - a young man who will set out to discover job and lifestyle opportunities throughout the NWT and relay those experiences to the post-secondary audience.

The Come Make Your Mark marketing campaign is part of the 16th Legislative Assembly's Maximizing Opportunities strategic initiative, which focuses on ensuring the NWT economy is balanced, diversified and sustainable.
