New Canadian Diamond Line Launches in Toronto

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 5, 2005) - Diarough Canada will introduce its new Fire of the North diamonds for the first time to the jewellery trade at the Jewellery World Expo August 7 to 9 at the National Trade Centre in Toronto.

Diarough Canada's Fire of the North diamonds are mined, cut and polished in Canada. Sourced at Canada's two diamond producing mines - Ekati (BHP Billiton) and Diavik (Rio Tinto) in the Northwest Territories - the Fire of the North diamonds are cut and polished at the new Diarough factory in the eastern Quebec town of Matane.

The Diarough Group, founded in 1975, is headquartered in Antwerp, Belgium. It employs 20.000 people worldwide and is a major De Beers sight holder as well as a client of BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto Diamonds. The Diarough Group, which had a 2004 consolidated turn over of $692 million US, focuses on rough diamond dealing, manufacturing, polished sales and marketing and jewellery design, sales and marketing. It has factories in Belgium, India, Thailand, Botswana and the newest facility in Matane, Quebec. It operates polished sales and marketing offices in Antwerp, Toronto, New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Mumbai and Melbourne as well as in Thailand, Germany, France, and Italy.
