New Classes at David Lloyd Leisure This Summer

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - May 20, 2010) - David Lloyd Leisure is introducing three exciting classes to its clubs this summer. Exclusive to David Lloyd Leisure, JUKARI Fit to Flex™ classes will have rolled out across all the clubs by July 1 and ViPR™ and Power Plate™ classes will start on the gym floor in July too.

Commenting on the new classes, Group Health and Fitness Manager, Rob Beale said: "JUKARI is an excellent class for women wanting to improve their flexibility and posture through Cirque Du Soleil® dance moves. There is already a buzz in the clubs anticipating its arrival. The Power Plate and ViPR classes will be in groups of eight, so people will benefit from closer interaction with their instructor and will have more opportunity to ask questions and have their form checked."

JUKARI Fit to Flex

Reebok and Cirque Du Soleil's innovative JUKARI Fit to Flex class is coming to David Lloyd Leisure clubs this summer. Using Cirque Du Soleil music and choreography, this dynamic flexibility class aims to improve women's posture through fluid stretches and movement.

Use of a stretchy JUKARI band during the class assists with the movements, improves flexibility and enhances muscle tone, making it accessible for all fitness levels.

11 flagship David Lloyd Leisure clubs will start running the classes from May and the class will be widely available when it is launched nationally on July 1st in other David Lloyd Leisure clubs.

ViPR Classes

ViPR (Vitality Programming Reconditioning) is a functional whole-body training tool, which can increase muscle strength and tone, improve balance and flexibility, burn calories and reduce body fat. There will be a set on the gym floor in every club and fitness teams will be on hand to give free classes to groups of eight members.

The class will achieve results through its combination of lifting, shifting and twisting the ViPR. It combines the functionality of the barbell, dumbbell, Kettlebell, stability ball, medicine ball, balance device and speed ladder and is available in varying weights to suit the user.

Power Plate Classes

Power Plate machines use vibrations to contract muscles in a reflex action, which can help to tone the body, aid weight loss, reduce body fat and help fight cellulite. Different parts of the body are targeted with a range of exercises that are performed using it. Exercises include squats, lunges, bicep curls and tricep dips.

Exercises are held for a maximum of 60 seconds allowing the machine to strengthen, tone and stretch multiple muscle groups simultaneously. The classes are for up to eight people and will be held on the gym floor and are suitable for all ages and fitness levels as it doesn't strain joints or other parts of the body.
