New Commander for Canadian Forces Base Borden

CANADIAN FORCES BASE (CFB) BORDEN, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Aug. 7, 2013) - Today, Colonel Carl Doyon assumed command of CFB Borden and the Canadian Forces Support Training Group from Brigadier-General Tammy Harris in an official ceremony at CFB Borden. The ceremony was presided over by Major-General Éric Tremblay, Commander of the Canadian Defence Academy.

"I congratulate Brigadier-General Harris for the leadership and dedication she demonstrated as Commander of CFB Borden and the Canadian Forces Support Training Group," said Major-General Tremblay. "I extend a warm welcome to the incoming commander, Colonel Doyon, who, having served in a number of key assignments in the past years, will bring significant leadership experience to his new role as Commander."

"I am proud of the people and the work that we have accomplished at Canadian Forces Base Borden and the Canadian Forces Support Training Group over the last year," said Brigadier-General Harris. "I am confident that Colonel Doyon's leadership ability and forward thinking will continue to contribute to the excellence in training at Borden."

CFB Borden is the only base in Canada that is not designated specifically as a Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, or Royal Canadian Air Force base. This training base employs approximately 1 500 military members and approximately 1 400 civilians. Each year, CFB Borden trains approximately 18 000 soldiers, sailors, airmen and women in a multitude of Officer and Non-Commissioned Officer occupations, for today's domestic and international operations.
