New Dallas Wayne Album 'Songs The Jukebox Taught Me' to Be Released on Heart of Texas Records on May 20

Dallas Wayne Pays Tribute to His Classic Country Music Heroes and Teachers With a Fresh Collection of Standards That He Makes His Own

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - Apr 26, 2016) - Today, Heart of Texas Records announced an official release date of May 20 for the long-awaited new album from Dallas Wayne, 'Songs The Jukebox Taught Me.'

Singer, songwriter and radio personality Dallas Wayne pays tribute to classic country music every day on his show on the SiriusXM Satellite Radio channel Willie's Roadhouse. "The seed to record this album was planted while doing my radio show," said Dallas. "When I'm on the air, I find myself saying that somebody oughta cut these great classic songs again."

Now 'somebody' has done just that. And with a fresh sound and pristine production, Dallas Wayne makes this collection of country standards his own, while still being true to the classic country sound.

"After ten albums of mostly original material, I've chosen to honor some of the heroes and teachers who taught me this music," said Dallas. "I'm humbled to have as very special guests on the album some of my personal heroes and friends: Willie Nelson, Jeannie Seely, Darrell and Mona McCall, and Paula Nelson. I hope listeners enjoy the new record as much as we enjoyed making it."

To mark the May 20th release date, Dallas will travel from Austin to Nashville for that week to perform as well as broadcast his radio show from the SiriusXM Nashville studios. On Saturday, May 21, he will perform on the Grand Ole Opry and be the musical host of the Ernest Tubb Midnite Jamboree. And on May 23 - 24, he will take part in a TV taping of RFD TV's Country's Family Reunion for a special Tribute to Merle Haggard.

"When I was learning how to sing, play and write country music in the mid-60s and into the 70s, this was the popular music of that time; the era that taught me to love country music," said Dallas. "This collection of songs captures a moment in time in country music when production values had advanced and become more sophisticated, and songcraft -- the art of blending melody and lyric -- was still king."
