New Dance Horizons Benefits from Federal Arts Funding

Minister Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay announces support for the Regina-based organization

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwired - Aug. 14, 2014) - The Government of Canada is providing total funding of $164,000 ($82,000 per year) to New Dance Horizons for its 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 seasons.

The Honourable Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay, Minister of National Revenue, made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

Quick Facts

  • Federal support will assist New Dance Horizons (NDH) in presenting Canadian dance and performance work through three series: the Performing Series, Blueprint Series and Prairie Dance Circuit. Performances are held at venues in Regina, including NDH's own studio theatre.
  • NDH's annual Performing Series presents the work of regional, national and international contemporary dance artists in three to five main stage productions.
  • The Blueprint Series is a tool for both emerging and established artists and invites audiences to witness works in progress.
  • The Prairie Dance Circuit showcases contemporary Canadian dance that defines the Prairie region as a place of distinctive modern expression: dance made by the Prairie community for the Prairie community.
  • Funding is provided through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This fund gives Canadians increased access to the variety and richness of Canada's culture through professional arts festivals, presentations of live professional performances, and other artistic experiences.

"Today's investment reiterates our Government's commitment to Canada's arts and culture community. We are helping provide residents and visitors alike with access to a variety of quality performances that allow us to celebrate and explore the remarkable talent of our country."
