New DataMirror Alliance Delivers Native Log-Based Change Data Capture to Netezza's Data Warehouse Appliance

TORONTO, ON. and SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 5, 2006) - DataMirror® (TSX:DMC), a leading provider of real-time data integration and protection solutions, today announced formal optimized support for the Netezza Performance Server® data warehouse appliance. DataMirror's integration solution brings native log-based Change Data Capture (CDC) capabilities to Netezza's customers so they can respond faster to changing business information, improve customer service and realize high-performance data warehousing, while DataMirror's customers gain a low-cost data warehousing option. The optimized integration between these products reduces data latency and makes it easier for organizations to quickly capture and extract value from enterprise data.

"DataMirror's log-based CDC technology, in conjunction with Netezza's data warehouse appliance, empowers organizations to quickly make the best business decisions possible with the best information available without impacting mission-critical business applications," said John Fisher, Director, Channels and Alliances, DataMirror Corp.

A key component of DataMirror's real-time data integration solutions, native log-based CDC technology captures changed data directly from database logs without affecting the performance of source applications. Rather than using triggers or performing queries against the database, changes are captured continuously - as they occur and in the order they happen - to ensure transactional integrity, eliminate redundant data transfer, and save network bandwidth. Information is always up-to-date, not just as current as the last batch window. DataMirror solutions also enable audit and compliance and error traceability by logging all changes to the system, not just the net results of those changes, and detecting all transactions including descriptive information about the change such as user, application and time.

"By introducing optimized support for the Netezza appliance, DataMirror is fully able to leverage the high-speed load characteristics of the Netezza Performance Server system, minimizing data latency," said Vishal Daga, Director, Partner Marketing, Netezza Corp. "Additionally, Netezza's breakthrough performance allows BI users to quickly and easily run complex analyses in seconds or minutes that would have taken days or could not have been even executed at all on other systems. This combination of delivering quicker access to data, along with a much greater ability to extract value from it, provides Netezza's customers with a significant competitive advantage and continues to fuel our success in the market."
