Our Place is excited to announce the appointment of Laura Walsh as its new Director of Development.

Laura is a Certified Fundraising Executive with a proven international track record, including senior fundraising positions with BC Cancer Foundation and Pearson College.

"Our Place is such a vibrant organization with enormous potential," said Walsh. "It's a mission- focused organization with newfound leadership and a clear business plan, which is very compelling. With increased donor support, our goal is to further expand our hours, programs and services for the betterment of Greater Victoria's most vulnerable citizens."

"We are thrilled to have Laura join our leadership team," said Don Evans, executive director of Our Place. "She brings extensive experience and skill in the area of fundraising that will be crucial in delivering on our ambitious plans over the next few years."

Under the new leadership team, Our Place is now open 7 days a week, including statutory holidays. Our Place is an inner-city community centre serving Greater Victoria's most vulnerable: working poor, impoverished elderly, individuals with mental health and physical challenges, and the homeless. It provides 45 transitional housing units, over 1,200 meals per day, hot showers, free clothing, counseling and outreach services. Most importantly, it provides a sense of hope and belonging to our neighbours in need.
