New Edition of Review Book Helps Candidates Prepare for Structural Topics on the Architect Registration Exam

BELMONT, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 8, 2005 -- Professional Publications, Inc. (PPI), the leading publisher of professional licensing exam review materials for architects, announces the publication of "Architecture Exam Review, Volume I: Structural Topics," 6th edition, by Steven O'Hara, PE, and David Kent Ballast AIA, (ISBN 1-59126-033-7, paperback, 272 pages, $64.95).

Considerable updates have been made throughout the 6th edition to align the book with the Architect Registration Exam based on the 2003 International Building Code. According to O'Hara, "Important new content has been added to the coverage of topics such as Loads on Buildings, Building Code Requirements on Structural Design and Lateral Forces-Wind and Earthquakes -- to reflect the changes in the 2003 International Building Code. These updates provide examinees with a thorough review of the structural topics of the ARE, and give them the ability to reach their goal of passing the exam."

The 6th edition also includes updates for the ANSI/NFoPA NDS-2001 National Design Specification for Wood Construction. To further provide ARE candidates with a comprehensive review for the exam, 160 realistic sample problems, hundreds of examples, illustrations, and tables, and a detailed index are incorporated into the book.

Every year, approximately 6,500 architects prepare for the various divisions of the ARE developed by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). The ARE assesses a candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide services required in architectural practice. The exam is adopted for use by all United States architectural registration boards as well as Canadian provincial architectural associations.

"Architecture Exam Review, Volume I: Structural Topics," 6th edition, is authored by Steven E. O'Hara, PE, and David Kent Ballast, AIA.
