AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - Mar 26, 2014) - EKN Research today announced results from its new benchmark study, "Mobile in Retail: The Enterprise Strikes Back," which reveals that a majority of retailers recognize and attach significant value to mobility, with a high degree of interest in enhancing the customer experience and improving business efficiencies. The study, underwritten by supporting sponsors HP and Kronos, surveyed 150+ retailers, of which 46% were above $1 billion USD in revenue.

Results from the benchmark study, available here, include:
- Current mobile adoption is lagging. The study shows that future investments need to be more focused on improving the processes and workflows associated with customer engagement and experience.
- The intersection of data analytics and store associate mobility presents the greatest internal opportunity to leverage mobility. The study reports that 70% of retailers will allow employees to use their personal devices to perform work-related tasks over the next 24 months.
- Apple iOS emerges as the leading choice for the enterprise standard for enterprise mobility, rapidly outpacing Android, Blackberry and Windows. Nearly 1 in 2 retailers plan to make Apple iOS an enterprise standard. This means that platform choices will have an impact on the future business extensibility and scalability of mobile applications.
