New Elsevier Book Fills Knowledge Gap for Oil and Gas Reservoir Engineers

One of seven new oil and gas industry titles, "Compositional Grading in Oil and Gas Reservoirs" enables readers to better model a compositional gradient subject

CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwired - June 15, 2017) - Elsevier, the information analytics company specializing in science and health, today announced the publication of Compositional Grading in Oil and Gas Reservoirs by Rogerio Oliveira Esposito, Pedro Henrique Rodrigues Alijó, Jose Antonio Scilipoti and Frederico Wanderley Tavares. One of seven new oil and gas industry titles, this valuable reference offers instruction, examples and case studies to respond to the challenges of modeling a compositional gradient subject. It combines practical studies with the importance of modeling more complex phenomena, enabling current and upcoming reservoir engineers to produce stronger production curves, reserve estimations, and future development strategies. Multiple examples and case studies are included to help them make sense of their reservoir's output results.

Learn about phase equilibrium thermodynamics in this sample chapter.

Dr. Esposito is currently a senior process engineer at Petrobras, assigned to the Reservoir Engineering department specializing in production development design, fluid modeling of reservoir fluids, and compositional grading determination for initializing reservoir simulations. He has taught classes at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), and Gama Filho University in Brazil, all in the department of chemical engineering. Dr. Esposito earned bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering from UFRJ, and a post-doc from the Reservoir Engineering Research Institute in California.

Dr. Alijó is currently adjunct professor at the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ). Previously, he was a research assistant at the Foundation of Coordination of Projects, Research, and Technological Studies (COPPETEC Foundation), as well as D.Sc. Fellow and M.Sc. Fellow at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Dr. Alijó earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the Federal University of Bahia in Brazil, and master's and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering from UFRJ.

Dr. Scilipoti is currently conducting post-doctoral research in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Previously, he was a manager of coatings at Matarfer in Argentina and a process engineer at Tedsid. Dr. Scilipoti earned a B.A. in chemical engineering from the National University of Cordoba, Argentina, and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the National University of South, also in Argentina.

Dr. Tavares is a full professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He is an active member of multiple committees and has published more than 115 papers. Dr. Tavares earned an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from UFRJ, a master's degree in physical-chemistry from UFRJ, a doctorate in chemical engineering from UFRJ, a post-doctoral in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware, and a post-doctoral in chemical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.
