New Email Search Tool Helps Storactive Customers Retrieve Their Older Exchange Data

Search Capability Debuts in New Release of LiveServ for Exchange

MARINA DEL REY, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 1, 2005 -- Storactive® Inc., the leader in continuous data protection (CDP) technology, today announced the newest release of LiveServ for Exchange. LiveServ is the industry's only application-integrated CDP solution for Exchange. While the Exchange server is running, LiveServ can easily recover messages, mailboxes or databases from any previous point-in-time without disrupting Exchange availability. This newest release of LiveServ includes an email message search tool.

LiveServ policies allow customers to retain their message-level backups for any designated period of time. As LiveServ customer-use cases continue to evolve, many clients are retaining their protected Exchange data on a longer term basis. This new release of LiveServ can now service a greater range of message and mailbox-level recovery requests with a richer, historical data set. In order to streamline the identification of messages for restoration, the new e-mail message search tool allows administrators to search the LiveServ repository for this information.

LiveServ customer Nature's Sunshine has monthly message volumes averaging just under half-a-million e-mails, a staggering amount of business intelligence that is constantly moving through their Exchange system. "We initially tasked LiveServ as a short-term, message and mailbox-level recovery tool, but we've found LiveServ's capacity management features allow us to drastically enhance the level of recovery service we offer," said Mike Johnson, senior systems engineer at Nature's Sunshine. "We asked Storactive for a way to search through thousands of saved email messages. They listened to how we want to use their product's technology in email searches and they came back to us with a search tool for LiveServ."

"Nature's Sunshine is clearly ahead of the curve in their approach to email technology," said Jason Fisher, product manager at Storactive. "Early adopters of CDP for Exchange, like Nature's Sunshine, are invaluable resources to us as we continue to develop and mature our approach to managing email data. LiveServ's long term retention of Exchange data and its email message search tool are the first steps in extending our CDP technology in the email archiving space."

LiveServ combines the best of backup, replication and snapshot technologies in one elegant solution and is the industry's only true application-integrated, continuous data protection (CDP) solution for Exchange. It allows administrators to recover messages, mailboxes or databases from any previous point in time without disrupting Exchange availability. LiveServ's disk-to-disk, lights-out approach keeps backup process management to a minimum while maximizing both large and small-scale recovery possibilities. LiveServ integrates seamlessly with existing tape backup systems to provide blended protection schemes for different restoration objectives.
