New England College of Business Announces Military Spouse Scholarships for MyCAA

Program Provides Military Spouses With Opportunity to Earn an Associate's Degree in Business With No Out-of-Pocket Tuition Expense

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - September 14, 2010) -  Today the New England College of Business announced that they will be offering a tuition reduction on an Associate's Degree in Business Administration for spouses of active duty service members. The discount will bring the entire tuition cost of the Associate's Degree to $4,000, and under the new guidelines, MyCAA benefits can cover 100% of the tuition cost.

"Our military spouses deserve all the support that we can provide. I thank the New England College of Business for taking a bold stand to present this extraordinary benefit," stated Admiral Thomas B. Hayward, former Chief of Naval Operations.

On October 25, 2010, the MyCAA program, which provides education funding for spouses of active duty Department of Defense service members, will begin accepting new applicants. Under the new guidelines, spouses can use the funding for certificates or Associate's degrees and have a total benefit cap of $4,000. The New England College of Business and Finance is taking bold action and demonstrating their commitment to our military community by providing this significant tuition reduction. Students must register by January 5, 2011 to take advantage of the $11,500 discount on an Associate's Degree in Business. The total tuition cost is only $4,000.

Although the program officially opens in late October, Tracie Jefferson is already prepared to use her MyCAA benefits. Tracie's husband is serving in Afghanistan. They have three children and she wanted to do something that would create new opportunities for her and her family. Earning her degree seemed like the perfect answer. However, she was very concerned with the cost. When told that this new program would require no out-of-pocket tuition expenses, she was in shock. "I know that people really do care about military families. It's wonderful that NECB wants to support us with a program like this. It helps to know that people really do value our service." This fall Tracie will begin her college career at NECB.

NECB is a regionally accredited institution. Courses are 100% online, incorporating a state of the art, anytime/anywhere technology platform. Through this new program, military spouses will be a part of a nationwide military spouse community working on their degrees and forming new connections and friendships. With high retention rates and a commitment to quality and affordability, NECB is the growing choice for students across the globe.

Emily Knight, who directs this outreach program for NECB, shared her personal connection to the education needs of military spouses. "As a child, I would watch my mother try to complete her degree as we moved every few years. Online learning wasn't available and there were no programs to help military families pay for their education. I firmly believe that military spouses need our support and it's our obligation to help them achieve their education goals."

Spouses wishing to apply for their degree through this program can do so online at http://www.necb.edu/mycaa or call 800.997.1673. Students must register and be enrolled by January 5th, 2011 and are required to finish their program in 24 months. Even if they don't qualify for MyCAA, all active duty military spouses can still take advantage of this incredible program to receive the $4,000 tuition rate through January 5th, 2011. NECB has been recognized as Military Friendly and is a VA Yellow Ribbon school.
