The 38,000-square-foot store will open in the Kingspoint Plaza at 370 Main Street North (Highway #10) Brampton, in the former A&P grocery store location.

"Our customers have been asking us for a store in Brampton for many years, and we believe this location will be ideal for us to serve this community," says Jeff York, the President of Ottawa-based Giant Tiger Stores Limited.

"Customers in and around Brampton will find us an affordable and convenient destination for fashion clothing, groceries, everyday basic needs and more," adds York. "Giant Tiger, your all-Canadian family discount store, is a clean, neat, bright,
friendly, and fun place to shop, and will save customers both time and money!"

"We have everyday low prices and great values on current fashions and footwear for the entire family. We also carry great home decorating items, groceries, frozen food, dairy products, health and beauty needs, cleaning supplies, toys, electronics, and terrific seasonal merchandise," notes York.

"Our customers tell us that shopping at Giant Tiger is like a 'treasure hunt' because new merchandise arrives daily and there are always great deals in store. As well, as an added convenience for our customers, we have incorporated a pharmacy into the new store. And the new store is easy to get to and has plenty of free parking."

The new Brampton store has hired more than 67 new team members in both full and part-time positions.

Giant Tiger has a buying office in Montreal, Canada's fashion capital. Clothes to keep customers dressed in style will arrive at the store every day of the year. At Giant Tiger, each store has control over the merchandise that is purchased to best suit the needs of its community. "You'll find the identical quality and fashion items offered by the major chain stores are sold at Giant Tiger at remarkably lower prices," says York.

In Giant Tiger tradition, the community is invited to have a roaring good time at the Grand Opening on Saturday. Customers will enjoy free coffee, clowns, a climbing tower, face painting, tattoos, balloons and treats, plus they will be able to meet the Giant Tiger mascot himself. As well, Giant Tiger is holding a charity barbecue for the Bramalea-Brampton Kinsmen Club where everyone will get a hot dog and a drink for a loonie. All proceeds will be donated to this worthwhile local cause.

The Brampton Giant Tiger is the second of two store locations to be opened in the GTA this spring. On Saturday, March 18th, a 26,000-square-foot store was opened at 3200 Erin Mills Parkway, Mississauga, in the former Food Basics location, and was very well received by the community.

Giant Tiger, Canada's leading junior discount retailer, was established in 1961 in Ottawa's Byward Market. This All-Canadian success story has grown into a network of 163 locations across Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and New Brunswick, employing more than 6,000 Canadians.
