New I.E.Canada Chair

Phancorp President Appointed Chair of I.E.Canada Attention: Business/Financial Editor TORONTO/ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - July 11, 2005) - On June 16, The Board of Directors of I.E.Canada, Canadian Association of Importers and Exporters, announced the appointment of Isabel Alexander as board Chair.

Alexander is only the second woman to hold this position in I.E.Canada's 73-year history. She is president and founder of Phancorp Inc, one of Canada's 200 fastest growing companies.

Phancorp Inc. is a global chemical wholesaler serving the North American chemical distributor, with headquarters in Brampton, Ontario and satellite offices in the United States and China. Isabel has been acclaimed in the top 50 of Profit and Chatelaine magazines' Top 100 Women Business Owners in Canada and one of Profit Magazine's Top 10 Growth Leaders.

Alexander is also a director of the Society of Chemical Industry Canada and - as a strong advocate for the environment- she is a director for Friends of Pinery Park, a not-for-profit organization providing a liaison between the community and The Ministry of Natural Resources.

"This is an exciting time to be Chair at I.E.Canada," said Alexander. "We are working to build strategic relationships with other associations internationally. We have already begun to build a relationship with AAEI, the American Association of Importers and Exporters, and are encouraged by our success. It is only the beginning," said Alexander.

"We are also in our third year of I.E.Canada's Strategic Plan, with an ongoing commitment to be the recognized voice for Canada's trade community. Sustainable growth in membership is an important part of that plan," said Alexander.

"We have 730 member associations today, with a goal of 750 members by February 2006. Since we have added 20 new members in the last four months already, we are well on our way to achieving our goal of a five per cent membership increase for this fiscal year."

"Isabel Alexander is a dynamic entrepreneur who will be able to help I.E.Canada develop new opportunities for Canadian importers and exporters in Canada and abroad," said Todd Sharman, outgoing Chair of I.E.Canada. "Isabel is a strategic thinker with an unusual ability to seize opportunities globally and identify solutions to challenges."
