New International Surgical Products Business Provides Platform for Introducing Medline's Evidence-Based Solutions Worldwide

Acquisition of CareFusion's International Surgical Products Distribution Business Completed

MUNDELEIN, IL--(Marketwire - April 4, 2011) - Solidifying a new platform for introducing its products and clinical programs to international markets, Medline Industries, Inc., the nation's largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of healthcare products, today announced the completion of its acquisition of CareFusion Corporation's (NYSE: CFN) International Surgical Products (ISP) distribution business.

"We believe this will be a tremendous growth opportunity for our business," said Andy Mills, president of Medline. "We will be adding our strong portfolio of products and clinical programs to ISPs products, with the objective of delivering enhanced clinical outcomes and patient care."

Medline has a strong track record of searching for and promoting best practices and evidence-based solutions within the U.S. healthcare industry, and will be looking to replicate that success internationally.

"We have a history of working with industry experts from organizations like the World Health Organization and the Joint Commission on key issues such as hand hygiene," said Mills. "We now have a conduit for delivering the results of those collaborations worldwide."

The newly acquired ISP business is based in Rolle, Switzerland, with operations in 16 European and Asian-Pacific countries. The business generated sales of approximately $440 million in 2010, elevating Medline's annual company sales to approximately $4.5 billion.
