New Jersey Dentist Is a Veteran Volunteer for Tennessee Residents in Need

Dr. Peter Ciampi Routinely Volunteers With Remote Area Medical (RAM) Volunteer Corps to Provide His Services to Patients Who Would Not Otherwise Be Able to Afford Vital Dental Care

SPRING LAKE, NJ--(Marketwire - Feb 14, 2013) - Dr. Peter Ciampi, a New Jersey cosmetic dentist, recently returned from a mission trip serving the communities in and around Knoxville, TN. Remote Area Medical (RAM) Volunteer Corps is the host organization that gathers healthcare professionals to provide a combination of medical, vision, and dental services to those in need. As a veteran participant of the program, Dr. Ciampi was eager to partner again with RAM.

Dr. Ciampi values his ability to participate in these mission trips as an opportunity to give back. He feels that he has experienced a lot of good fortune in his life and joining these mission trips provides him with a way to show his appreciation while directly working with the underserved.

With the current state of the economy and unemployment rates, Dr. Ciampi believes our country's citizens may need this type of assistance now more than before. He also highlights that it is not necessary to travel overseas for doctors to volunteer their services -- there are plenty of people in need within the United States.

Taking a brief leave from Spring Lake Dental Care, his New Jersey cosmetic dentistry practice, Dr. Ciampi is able to collaborate with professionals in his field from around the country. This type of interaction facilitates discussions of a variety of clinical situations and how they are managed around the country by different dentists. According to Dr. Ciampi, working with RAM nurtures a sense of camaraderie amongst the healthcare professionals that yields an informative and educational atmosphere. He is already planning on participating with RAM's volunteer program later on this year.

Another aspect of these trips Dr. Ciampi finds rewarding is seeing young people smile. During this past trip, he was surprised by the number of teenagers in pain and in need of serious dental work. He is happy to be able to relieve them of pain and see them smile again.

This recent mission trip with RAM also showed Dr. Ciampi that the organization and its programs are still very much needed. There is a continued need for dental care in the United States and RAM provides a vital role in assisting those in the need of medical, vision, dental care that would not otherwise receive it.
